Steely Dan – Do It Again

Do It Again
In the mornin’ you go gunnin’
for the man who stole your water.
And you fire ’til he is done in,
but they catch you at the border.
And the mourners are all singin’,
as they drag you by your feet.
But the hangman isn’t hangin’,
and they put you on the street.

You go back Jack, do it again.
Wheel turnin’ ’round and ’round.
You go back Jack, do it again.

When you know she’s no high climber
then you find your only friend.
In a room with your two-timer,
and you’re sure you’re near the end.
Then you love a little wild one,
and she brings you only sorrow.
All the time you know she’s smilin’,
you’ll be on your knees tomorrow.

You go back, Jack, do it again.
Wheel turnin’ ’round and ’round.

Now you swear and kick and beg us,
that you’re not a gamblin’ man
Then you find you’re back in Vegas
with a handle in your hand.
Your black cards can make you money,
so you hide them when you’re able.
In the land of milk and honey,
you must have put them on the table.

You go back Jack, do it again.
Wheel turnin’ ’round and ’round.
You go back, Jack, do it again.

Venice – Rikki Don’t Lose That Number

Rikki Don’t Lose That Number
We hear you’re leaving, that’s okay.
I thought our little wild time had just begun.
I guess you kind of scared yourself,
you turn and run.
But if you have a change of heart.

Rikki don’t lose that number,
you don’t want to call nobody else.
Send it off in a letter to yourself.
Rikki don’t lose that number,
it’s the only one you own.
You might use it if you feel better.
When you get home.

I have a friend in town,
he’s heard your name.
We can go out driving
on Slow Hand Row.
We could stay inside and play games,
I don’t know.
And you could have a change of heart.

Rikki don’t lose that number,
you don’t want to call nobody else.
Send it off in a letter to yourself.
Rikki don’t lose that number,
it’s the only one you own.
You might use it if you feel better.
When you get home.

You tell yourself you’re not my kind,
but you don’t even know your mind.
And you could have a change of heart.

Rikki don’t lose that number,
you don’t want to call nobody else.
Send it off in a letter to yourself.
Rikki don’t lose that number,
it’s the only one you own.
You might use it if you feel better.
When you get home.
