The Doobie Brothers – Real Love

Real Love is een lekker nummer van de Amerikaanse groep The Doobie Brothers, dat ze hier spelen tijdens een concert in 1987, met lead vocalen van Michael McDonald. Het origineel komt van hun 9e album One Step Closer uit 1980, waar ik begin jaren 80 veel naar luisterde. Het lied werd geschreven door McDonald zelf, samen met toetsenist Patrick Henderson en de saxsolo’s zijn van Cornelius Bumpus (1945-2004).

Het woord “doobie” betekent een cannabis joint. De naam Doobie Brothers werd bedacht door een vriend die ze in het begin van de jaren 70 kende als “de jongens die veel hasj rookten”.
